Event management companies will have experience at planning small and large events or activities, and a wide range of contacts to call on, which will be less time-consuming for the organisers. Sponsorship is one way in which you can reclaim some of your costs. How much sponsorship you seek depends on what you want to achieve by your sponsorship. unfortunately with indiscreet sponsorship, many events lose their direction and impact , and so it is as well to establish at an early stage the precise physical needs of your sponsor at your event. Some suggestions for sponsorship include:

1. Free radio advertising
2. Free press advertising
3. Banners or promotional clothing supporting your sponsor's interest as a prominent part of your event.
4. Sponsor mentioned in the speeches

Write to the key person dealing with sponsorship in the target company, explaining what you would like to do, and what you can offer them by way of tangible promotion. It is a good idea to target companies with a history of sponsorship or of interest in your cause specifivcally. At this point please state how much sponsorship funding will be necessary.

Make your initial letter brief and to the point, and reserve a more thorough breakdown for later on. You may wish to ask a local celebrity to represent you mission in approaching likely sponsorship candidates.

Contact local radio stations and press - you may be able to publish quite a lengthy article free of charge.Always be clear of the form you would like sponsorship to take - it helps people to be directed to a course of action, rather than trying to work out what they can do for themselves.

If you know of any sponsorship deals, talk to the recipients to find out how they achieved success.

Systematize your sponsorship seeking activities, and try not to pin all your hopes on one or another company or personality.
